A clear path, planned carefully and managed start to finish, so you always know what comes next.

Six steps, one team, and no surprises. Here’s exactly what working with Abode looks like.
-
01
Visit
Start in our showroom or at your home. We talk through the materials you’re drawn to, how you live in the space, your timeline and your budget.
-
02
Measure
We measure precisely and look at what’s underneath: the subfloor, transitions, stairs and existing conditions, so your estimate reflects the real job.
-
03
Upfront estimate
We price the real job and walk you through every part of your estimate, so you know exactly what you’re paying for before anything is ordered.
-
04
Source & schedule
We order your materials, or source what you couldn’t find in our showroom, and set an installation date that works for you. Bought your flooring elsewhere? We’ll install that too.
-
05
Installation
Our own installers move the furniture, remove your old flooring and haul it away, then prep, install and keep your home clean and protected. We stay on schedule and keep you updated along the way.

Is the consultation free?
Yes. In-home consultations and showroom visits are complimentary, with no obligation.
What happens at an in-home consultation?
We bring samples to your home so you can compare them in your own light. We walk through material options and installation methods, measure your space, and answer your questions about the tricky areas, like stairs, transitions and uneven floors. Most visits take 30 minutes to an hour, and it’s complimentary, with no obligation.
When will I get my estimate?
We’ll let you know when to expect it at your consultation. We take the time to price every project carefully, so the number is right the first time.
How much does new flooring cost?
It depends on a few things: the material you choose, the size of the space, what’s underneath and how much prep it needs, stairs and transitions, and removing your old flooring. We walk you through each of these at your complimentary consultation, and your estimate spells them out.
Do you move furniture and remove the old flooring?
Yes. Our installers move your furniture, remove the old flooring and haul it away, so all you have to do is enjoy the new floor.
Will the price change once we start?
Only if the scope changes, for example if we find subfloor damage once the old floor comes up. If that happens, we walk you through it and agree on it together before any extra work begins.
Do you install flooring I bought somewhere else?
Yes, we can install materials you’ve bought elsewhere. Our one-year labor warranty covers flooring purchased through Abode, so it doesn’t apply to client-supplied material. That material is covered by its manufacturer’s warranty.
What warranty do you offer?
Every installation of flooring purchased through Abode carries our one-year labor warranty. Materials are covered by their manufacturer, and if you purchased through us, we’ll help you contact the manufacturer.
What if you don’t carry what I’m looking for?
We’ll source it. Our showroom is a starting point, not a limit.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the size of the space, the material and the prep involved. You’ll get a timeline with your estimate, and we keep to it.
What do you install?
Hardwood, waterproof flooring, carpet, custom rugs and runners, countertops, quartz and natural stone, and window coverings.
What areas do you serve?
Lafayette and the East Bay: Orinda, Moraga, Canyon, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Clayton, Alamo, Diablo, Danville, Blackhawk, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Piedmont, Alameda, Bay Farm Island and Castro Valley. If you’re a little farther out, just ask. We’d love to hear about your project, wherever it is.
How soon can we walk on new floors?
It depends on the material. Carpet, nail-down hardwood and most floating or click-together floors can be walked on the same day. Glue-down floors usually need about 24 hours, and site-finished hardwood needs a few days for the finish to cure. We’ll give you exact timing for your floor.
Can you install new flooring over our existing floors?
Sometimes. Some floors can go over an existing hard surface if it’s flat and sound, which can save time and cost. We check what’s underneath at your consultation and tell you honestly whether it’s a good idea.
Are you the same company as Abode Flooring & Finishes?
Yes. We’ve changed our name to Abode Lafayette. Same family, same team, same showroom on Mt Diablo Blvd.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Abode Lafayette is a licensed California contractor, CSLB license #1127785.
